Today, the last of the Pennsylvania wolves are gone. Men hunted them down, trapped them, and poisoned them into extinction. And it may be a very long time before these mountains are graced with the lonely music of a wolf's howl. But there is still magic in these hills for anyone who cares to search for it.

Sometimes at night, when the moon is shining just right, some of the local people who live near Bald Eagle Mountain say that if you listen carefully, you can still hear the sound of Jack's fiddle up on the mountainside, fiddling for those wolves.

One old-timer told me that he snuck up there one night, following the fiddle's sound. He looked up through the trees into the clearing where Jack once hunted the wolves.

And there, sitting on a log, was the skin of Fiddlin' Jack, no eyes in the eyeholes, fiddling a strange, eerie tune. And there, in the center of the clearing, was the skin of Dark Catrina, dancing round and round and round.
